Fleeting Anniversaries

Do you realize, Dear Reader, that it has been a full year for my blog! I turned a year old Saturday, the first and didn't even realize it. If I had, I would have written something. My first blog from a year ago was very short, but so full of high hopes! This is all there was:

This blog is for fleeting thoughts. Perhaps a better name is "Stream-of-Conscience Thoughts". Because that's what it is. Never a dull moment! At least, I hope not.


Doesn't that just melt the socks off your nose? I began this blog for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to think funny thoughts. A lot of serious things were going on in my life - still are- and I felt like I needed comic relief. The second reason for this blog is that it is a tool with which I'm honing my writing skills. I have succeeded in the comic relief, but I'm not so sure about improving my writing skills. Time will tell.

So, this blog started out being for just me. But, I have some regular readers now, mostly family who feel sorry for me because they think no one is reading what I write. I have enjoyed my new adventure of blogging and I hope you, Dear Reader, have enjoyed the journey as well. Thank you for taking the time to read and to send me suggestions and advice. We live in a serious world and we could all use a little comic relief.

Fleeting Blogs and Readers

Oh, my! It's been over a year since my last blog! I didn't realize that until Anonymous posted on one of the posts to ask why I would advertise a blog on the back of my car when I don't update regularly. I have egg on my face and I will try to do better in the future.  One of the reasons I quit blogging was because for Christmas of 2011, I received an IPad. If anyone has ever tried to do any sustained typing on the onscreen touch-type keyboard, you know how impossible that is. A few months later I bought the wireless keyboard to go with it, with the idea of resurrecting FleetinglyCarol. Fleeting Whizzz-dom

Now, I'm sure you know that I have always put Old Man first in my life. And his family always came after that. I never turned down an invitation, never missed a nephew or niece's wedding, was always ready, able, and willing to do whatever I could to make Old Mans' parents happy and comfortable. And so I was horrified when I almost killed Old Man, Sr. There was not enough life insurance on him for it to have occurred any other way than accidental. There was a time before seat-belt laws. I know it's hard to believe, but there was a time when I was young and stupid. Also believe it or not, there was a time before cell phones and Internet. I'm almost embarrassed to write this story. But, here goes . . . Once upon a time, I was traveling in a pickup truck with Old Man, Sr. and three small children.
